Spiritual Direction

It’s not what you think it is. So before you switch off, just read on a little bit more. This might be what you are looking for as you explore what it means to have faith. Spiritual direction is not new to the 21st Century. It goes right back to the third century when people used to walk into the deserts to find wise men and women to ask their advice. Well the good news is that you don’t have to walk into the desert. The even better news is that it’s not all about advice. A spiritual director is guided by God’s spirit to listen to you.

Spiritual direction is about each individual finding someone who will listen to them as they try and work out some of their life questions. In the Liverpool Diocese our spiritual directors are people who are called by God.

They have all been trained. They will listen to you, listen to God and help you explore what’s in your heart.

It might be that you don’t really know if God exist, it might be that you think God exists but have lots of questions, it might be that you just aren’t sure, it might be that you do believe in God but don’t know anyone to talk with about this.

If these questions or other questions are in your heart, in your soul, why not find a spiritual director?

Having a spiritual director gives you an opportunity to have a confidential conversation (within normal safeguarding limits), centred around what you want. It could be just the thing you need in your life right now. It could enhance your life.
